Fall Family Fun at the Pumpkin Patch

The days of wearing flip flops, t-shirts, and shorts are far behind us. With Halloween right around the corner, we can’t help but think about one of our favorite autumn activities, a family trip to the pumpkin patch! Today we’re giving you tips for a memorable pumpkin patch outing!

The perfect pumpkin

Dress Appropriately
Keep in mind that you’ll be walking through muddy and slippery fields (depending on the weather) and it might be on the chilly side. Wear your favorite flannel, layer up and don’t forget those rubber shoes!

Bonus tip! Have a blanket on hand to keep the little ones nice and cozy.

The Early Bird Gets the Worm
Plan on arriving early to avoid the crowds (especially if you are going on the weekend). You’ll have your first dibs on all the pumpkins before anyone else does.

Take a Lot of Photos
There will undoubtedly be tons of memorable moments that you will want to capture. Don’t forget that you can conveniently order prints using the Meijer Photo App and pick up at the nearest Meijer location!

Make the Most Out of Your Adventure
This is the perfect opportunity for the kids to let off all their energy. Take advantage of the farm’s free family activities such as the corn maze, tractor rides, and the corn seed box.

Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Pumpkins!
– Oblong pumpkins are great for carving since they have more surface space to work with
– For cooking and eating, choose heavier pumpkin, that will have more flesh
– Mini pumpkins are great home décor accents
– Don’t throw away the seeds. Make a yummy snack out of them! You can find hundreds of delicious sweet and savory recipes online

Don’t forget to use your favorite pumpkin patch photos for holiday cards, photo books, or calendars!
